Located in its own building on campus, SFBGS elementary school provides exceptional experiences and opportunities that set the foundation for a lifetime of academic, social and spiritual success that will benefit our students, their families and our global community, both today, and in the years to come.
Able to learn and collaborate among their peers, students also benefit from regular visits from our Middle School students. SFBGS Middle School students interact and serve as role models for younger students throughout the year.
In addition to the core curriculum for each grade, students also have an opportunity to learn in our STEM Classroom and participate in the D.A.R.E. Program.
Our STREAM Classroom is a hands-on engineering lab: a place where students can go to make, break, share, develop, design, explore, create and most importantly have fun while learning! In line with our commitment to developing 21st century skills, this space is an exploratory, dynamic, student-centered, learning environment.
This type of classroom encourages the students to freely explore and learn without fear of making mistakes. In fact, it helps create a new understanding of the value of mistake-making. The space is available for all students of all ages, and the versatility of such a space allows for easy unit planning for any and all ages. It will help students of younger ages develop new motor skills and inspire curiosity in all. It also propels the faculty to explore the efficacy of project based learning and assessments.
Our fifth grade students learn strategies to say, "No" to peer pressure during D.A.R.E. class. D.A.R.E. stands for Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education, a ten-week lesson series taught by a Washington Police Officer.
